Position SummaryUnder the direction of the Area Director the Assistant Area Director is responsible for assisting with planning, directing, coordinating, organizing and implementing the systems, processes and programs needed to provide services to individuals served ensuring services meet State licensing standards and contract obligations, level of service and program model.Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesAssists Area/Regional Director in marketing Daybreak services to the community; state schools, MRA's, etc.Attends individual pre-placement and annual meetingsEnsures services are provided as written on the Individual Program Plan. Ensures compliance with all regulations of the ICC/IDD program principles and life safety code regulationsAudits client program. Tracks services and reviews documentation of service plansOversees purchase of adaptive aids and necessary home modificationsAssesses and makes suggestions regarding Team Member and individual interactions and needed supportsOversees and ensures efficient use of resources including, but not limited to, costs associated with vehicle maintenance and usage, grocery expenditures, utilities and payroll costsParticipates in Team duties as assigned. Provides input to Area/Regional Director regarding regional budgets. Assists Area/Regional Director in resolution of Team Member/Individual complaints. Coordinates with Area/Regional Director on strategic planning and growthUses Daybreak's Guiding Principles and Principles of Decision-Making to ensure the mission statement is evident in all areas of responsibility. Attends annual re-licensure surveys, investigations, and etc.Supervises and monitors delivery of servicesResponsible for preventing abuse, neglect, and exploitation of individuals served by providing ongoing staff trainingOver sees employee training complianceOther duties as assignedSupervisory Responsibilities:Directly supervises Administrative Team Members, QIDPs, Day Habilitation Director, Nurses, Residential Managers, and Maintenance Team Members as assignedResponsible for employment actions in respective area including, but not limited to, interviewing, hiring, disciplining, rewarding, evaluating and terminating of employeesEnsures all Team Members are trained on the philosophy, policies and procedures of Daybreak and individual PDPs and needed support prior to working with an individualEnsures corrective action process is followed if Team Members fail to meet the required expectations of the Company or if Company policies and/or procedures are violatedEnsures compliance with all federal, state and local employment lawsSchedules pre-employment, random and post-accident drug screensQualifications Education and/or ExperienceBachelor's degree in Social Services, Child Development, Psychology or closely related field preferredMinimum of 3 years' prior experience working with children or adults with developmental and intellectual and/or physical disabilities requiredDemonstrated ability to develop, implement and deliver effective learning and development programs, strong organizational, interpersonal and decision-making skills; or any equivalent combination of education and experience to provide the following knowledge, abilities and skills:Excellent writing skills. Outstanding communication skillsAbility to work in a professional environment, Extensive knowledge of the ICF programFlexibility Strong organizational, interpersonal, and decision-making skillsAbility to handle multiple tasks efficiently and effectivelyPhysical RequirementsThe physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this jobReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functionsDuties of this job are performing the following: Sitting is 50% of work time; Standing, and walking is 30% of work time; ending, pushing, pulling, stooping, reaching, and kneeling is 30% of work time; Grasping and finger/hand manipulation is 50% of work time. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to operate computer, facsimile, copier, shredder and calculator. An office setting, varying degrees of background noise, standard office lighting and ventilation, occasional temperature fluctuations are found in the work environment. Normal business hours with flexibility to work overtime or non-standard hours as required by special projects.Direct Reports Administrative Team Members, QIDPs, Day Habilitation Director, Nurses, Residential Managers, and Maintenance Team Members as assigned.
