Summary/Objective
The Nurse Director is responsible for providing leadership for a
designated patient care area. This individual has the
accountability and responsibility for clinical operations ensuring
that efficient and effective nursing care is provided to
individuals and families in the patient care area in which they are
employed. As a member of the Nursing Leadership Team, the Nurse
Director makes decisions independently and in collaboration with
the Chief Nursing Executive to promote the attainment of hospital
goals in accordance with its mission.
ANA Standards of Practice:
A. Assessment: the registered nurse collects comprehensive data
pertinent to the patient's health or the situation.
B. Diagnosis: the registered nurse analyzes the assessment data to
determine the diagnoses or issues.
C. Outcomes Identification: the registered nurse identifies
expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the patient or the
situation.
D. Planning: the registered nurse develops a plan that prescribes
strategies and alternatives to attain expected outcomes.
E. Implementation: the registered nurse implements the identified
plan, coordinates care delivery, employs strategies to promote
health and a safe environment.
F. Evaluation: the registered nurse evaluates progress toward
attainment of outcomes.
G. Quality of Practice: the registered nurse systematically
enhances the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice.
Essential Job Duties

nursing peers/faculty in nursing research and incorporates nursing

through rewards, recognition, coaching, counseling, and
disciplinary action.Provides an environment where staff are
actively engaged in shared governance and professional development
activities.
* Understands, articulates, and ensures compliance with State Nurse
Practice Act, Texas Department of Health regulations, regulatory
agency standards, and policies of the organization.
* Synthesizes and integrates divergent viewpoints for the good of
the organization; considers the impact of nursing decisions on the
heath care organization as a whole.
* Develops, maintains, and ensures compliance with P&P for
supervised department(s).Ensures department compliance with all
other relevant hospital and CHC policies and procedures, as well as
applicable laws and regulations.
* Displays sound fiscal judgment and control of department as
evidenced by achieving budget targets, including but not limited
to, hour/stat and cost/stat.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN)
3 - 5 years related experience
Required License/Certifications
Current RN License in the state of Texas
BLS Certification
Unit specific competencies obtained within six months of hire or
transfer date
* Strongly prefer previous wound care experience and/or WOCN / WCC
certification.
