The Chicagooffice of SmithGroupis looking for aSenior Civil
Engineerto join our team.SmithGroup has been named one of Chicago's

Working with us, you will:
Serve as project civil engineer ensuring that the technical aspects
of the project meet quality expectations while complementing the
design intent. Collaborate with other civil engineers, landscape
architects, permitting specialists, architects and building
engineers in a highly integrated work environment. Serve as Project
Manager on assigned projects including large, multi-disciplinary
project teams. Produce civil engineering designs for waterfront,
site development, and redevelopment of educational, medical,
research, commercial and public facilities. Lead and direct
supporting staff to produce plans, details and specifications for
all aspects of civil engineering including grading and drainage,
stormwater management, underground utilities, trails, roads and
other site related features. Perform site reviews, construction
site visits, coordinate all aspects of Construction Administration.
Communicate with clients, sub-consultants, contractors, all
government levels of regulatory agencies regarding engineering,
permitting and site development issues. Mentor junior staff and
participate in performance coaching. Engage with Marketing,
Business Development and other internal disciplines to effectively
market our services, develop proposals, interview and procure new
commissions. Maintain relationships with past clients and develop
relationships with current and new clients. Participate in the
recruitment and interviewing process as requested.
An ideal candidate has:
A bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent,Masters
degree a plus. 15 or more years of design experience working as a
Civil Engineer. Professional Engineer (PE) registration required.
Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software, i.e.
Hydraflow, HydroCAD, StormCAD or Storm Water Management Models
(SWMM). High proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D programs.
Experience with sustainable and green infrastructure design. ENV SP
or LEED AP a plus. Experience working in coastal or riverine
environments a plus. Ability to multi-task under rigid deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
