The opportunity
Our US Liquid Field Operations team is evolving to meet the needs of our growing business and we are expanding our presence in Nederland, TX to support crude oil testing needs.

We are seeking a Gauger who has knowledge and experience in working with PQM to perform required crude oil testing. This individual has the proven skills, competencies and capacity to perform the following job duties listed below. The successful candidate will be required to work a rotating schedule, which will require weekend work and holidays. The shifts are dependent on the current and future market conditions and may change on short notice.

What youll do

  • Ensure facilities and personnel comply with TC Energy's health, safety, environment, and risk standards
  • Ensure work tasks and duties comply with HS&E policies, procedures and applicable legislation
  • Perform routine mechanical, measurement, and maintenance duties at TC Energy facilities
  • Perform monthly and annual preventive maintenance and inspections on site equipment
  • Operate and maintain test and work equipment, operate company work vehicles
  • Perform routine pipeline maintenance tasks, basic maintenance such as installing pipeline markers and repairing fences
  • Represents TC Energy in the Integrated Public Awareness Program activities involving state pipeline association, one-call, contractor/excavation, public official, first responder meetings, etc.
  • Independently enter and locate data on computerized systems
  • With minimal direction, utilize and maintain prints
  • Understand and utilize emergency management (preparedness and response) procedures for work locations
  • Respond to internal and external customer/business partner needs; resolve concerns in a reasonable manner
  • Assist other technicians as required

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum education of a high school diploma or GED
  • Relevant industry experience (crude oil pipeline experience is an asset)
  • Demonstrated effective written & verbal communication skills
  • Highly motivated with interpersonal skills to effectively work in a collaborative team environment that includes shared responsibilities, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others, support team and company objectives, and a willingness to work in all areas required by the team
  • Must have the ability to complete tasks and assignments in a safe and environmentally responsible manner
  • Ensuring proper handling and disposition of hazardous waste
  • Utilize computers and e-mail for internal and external communication, record keeping, on-line reporting material and supply ordering, and filing of various forms
  • Must demonstrate your knowledge of Operator Qualification (OQ) and ability to achieve and maintain the OQs needed to perform the Gauger job in a timely manner
  • Candidate must live within 35 minutes response time of the Nederland Field Services Building

*This position requires candidates to:

  • Have and maintain a valid drivers license
  • Provide a drivers abstract for review
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing
  • Successfully complete a security clearance/criminal record check
  • Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training which would involve some overnight stays away from home

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous oil / liquid expertise and experience will be considered a strong asset
  • Pipeline / Mechanical experience would be a strong asset
