Job Description Job Purpose: Performs and reports laboratory testing in a manner to promote the efficient operation of the laboratory and effective patient care. Will work as a Generalist at the Riceland Medical Center Hospital Laboratory. Duties and responsibilities include: Performs phlebotomy on both adult and pediatric patients. Performs testing in Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation and Transfusion Medicine. Performs and evaluates Quality Control Participates in Proficiency testing. Troubleshoots basic instrument problems. Ensures supplies available and notifies appropriate personnel Assumes responsibility for attending in-service and continuing education classes Follows through with any incomplete procedures to ensure continuity of patient care Maintains clean working area Receives and process a variety of laboratory specimens and utilize the EMR and LIS computer system for data entry; computerized worksheets and interfaces are used in the performance of testing. Performs both STAT and Routine testing in an accurate and timely manner. Maintains HIPAA confidentiality at all times. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of two years in an accredited college or one or more years of training in an accredited school for Medical Laboratory Technicians OR Bachelor's Degree and completion of approved training program for Medical Technologist with MT Must be CLIA qualified for high complexity testing. Previous experience in hospital clinical laboratory preferred.
