General Description:

The NDE Level II UT position is responsible for leading and performing the hands-on NDT inspections, interfacing with the client and operations. Preliminary evaluations of inspected items and documenting results for client review. They are to mentor all Assistant positions.

This position will be responsible for driving Kakivik's Mission, Vision, and Values, a crucial part of the strategic plan to drive success. Kakivik Asset Management leads the industry in Safety, Innovation, and Excellence. Kakivik's mission is to provide quality-driven, cost-effective inspection and asset management services to support resource development companies.

Essential Duties Job Functions:

  • Ensure a safe work environment.
  • Interact with client Inspector as needed for upcoming inspections or if there is any additional pertinent information to be reported.
  • Daily interaction with client Operations for safety permitting to discuss any hazards/SIMOPS in the area of the intended inspection location.
  • Locate and verify specific pieces of equipment in the field using isometric drawings and one map.
  • Verify that historic and current inspection data align. Where conflicts occur, submit a detailed explanation with supporting document and photos so corrections can be made.
  • UT inspection for internal/external damage mechanisms.
  • Visual inspection of corrosion networks and surrounding piping for mechanical damage.
  • MT or PT inspection of injurious mechanical damage found.
  • Building detailed Excel based reports of inspection findings in accordance with inspection guidelines.
  • Self-starter with good time management and the ability to plan your workday to eliminate down time.
  • Perform specific calibrations, specific NDE, and specific evaluations for acceptance or rejection determinations according to written instructions and to record accurate results.
  • Responsible for proper transportation, control, and disposal of hazardous materials in technician's control.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Skilled in problem solving.
    • Knowledge of pipeline service and associated damage mechanisms.
    • Skilled in moderate excel and computer knowledge.
    • Ability to create accurate sketches and reports in a timely manner.
    • Ability to trouble shoot basic computer issues in the field.
    • Ability to work off Ropes, scaffolds, ladders, standing, crouching and laying on the ground for hours at a time without a large impact to performance.
    • Ability to maintain NDT Level 2 certifications.
    • Ability to interpret and evaluate results with respect to applicable codes, standards, specifications, procedures and customer's specific requests.

      Work Environment:

      All assigned positions are on-call 24 hours/day while on shift or assigned temporarily to another project. Flexibility regarding hours of work is required as needed to meet the demands of the job. Position may be reassigned at any time to meet operational objectives.

      While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works at the project site. The employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud.Position may be working with potentially hazardous materials and waste.

      Physical Requirements:

      The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. A pre-hire post offer Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) will be conducted to determine an employee's ability to perform to the job standard. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

      • MOBILITY: Must be able to access all controls and all parts of machinery for service. Must be able to push/pull 50 pounds for 20 feet.
      • HEARING: Must be able to hear audible safety alarms.
      • VISUAL ACUITY: Must be adequate to perform above listed tasks in a safe manner and take hand signals from ground man or flag man.
      • LIFTING: Must be able to routinely lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist, 50 pounds from wait level to shoulder height and carry 30 pounds for 20 feet.
      • RANGE OF MOTION: An objective range of motion measurement will be conducted and recorded using a five position and rapid exchange grip strength test during the pre-hire/post offer FCE.

        Contingencies:

        Offer contingent upon ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and a background check.

        Requirements

        Required Qualifications:

        • High School Diploma or GED is required.
        • Level 2 UT Shear wave certifications are required as per SNT-TC-1A.
        • A valid driver's license withno restrictions is required.

          Preferred Qualifications:

          • MT/PT certifications are preferred.
