The Senior Financial Analyst provides support and analysis of
yield, expense variance, account reconciliation, forecasting, call
report andfinancials. Utilizes linear programming and spreadsheet
models to provide management with product costanalysis, and other
optimization related information. Prepare forecasts and analyzes
trends in finance, lending,and other related areas.Responsibilities
and Duties of the Senior Financial Analyst:
Utilizes database models and compiles data from various internal
and external sources to develop recommendations and assist
reporting function. Provides management with regular forecasts
based on trends and statistical models.
Works closely with finance, accounting, and business units to
develop industry best practices in the ALM, liquidity risk
management, and stress testing fields.
Validate data input, assumptions, results of income simulations and
market value models to ensure outputs and analytics are reasonable.
Support ALM model with back testing, sensitivity analysis and
ongoing monitoring and documentation in accordance with best
practices and internal procedures.
Development and documentation of model assumptions, review and
validation of model results, production of ALM reports and
presentation of results to management.
Works under constraints defined in Federal regulations and
established by credit union policy. Keeps abreast of new and
existing NCUA regulations.
Assists with the management of investment portfolio positions, to
include periodic reviews due from broker and municipal credit
Maintains and help improve liquidity risk management and stress
testing models including documentation.
Assists with preparation of ALCO and other management reports.
Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable
laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank
Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets
Qualifications and Skills
5+ years of experience with various financial instruments required;
or equivalent combination of education and experience.
General understanding of interest rate risk, liquidity risk, and
approaches to quantifying and modeling these risks required,
including knowledge of financial market instruments and regulatory
requirements for financial institutions.
Experience with quantitative models used for forecasting or ALM and
liquidity risk management preferred.
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in Finance, Accounting, or Economics
Knowledge of accounting principles generally accepted in the United
States of America, basic characteristics of financial assets and
liabilities, and basic statistical analysis.
Ability to work standard personal computers (including peripheral
equipment), ten-key calculator, typing 30-40 words per minute, view
a computer terminal for varying periods of time, and to learn and
retain the proper use of office equipment, including facsimile
machines and photocopies.
Must be able to work with various PC software.
Strong ability to read, analyze and interpret financial reports and
legal documents; performs complex calculations; effectively
researches, analyzes and evaluates information to make decisions,
solve problems and achieve goals; strong project management skills
